It happened! I got a new (old, very old) drum set! A Gretsch SSB in a beautiful midnight blue pearl finish! 

For some of you this doesn't come as a surprise. I've always loved Gretsch drum sets. I already owned a Gretsch Bell Brass, most of my drumming hero's played this musical brand, but I really fell in love when I was able to play an early Gretsch Round Badge. I refurbished this drum set back in the day for it's owner and in return was able to play some shows with it and record with it. That's when I really fell in love with the rich tone and sustain that these drums have. And oh boy does this one have that too! 

I got it in a 22" 12" 13" 16" configuration, something I'm not really used to (for the most part I have played big sets with a 24" bassdrum). This kit sounds awesome, so round, full of tone, and that rolling thunder in the floortom that not many drum sets have. 

I'm really really looking forward to take it on the road and in to the studio! Hope to see you all at the shows!

Hey all!

I have some exciting news to share with you all! One of the bands I'm playing with currently, calles Psychonaut, has been voted 4th best band of the Benelux 2023! We are in a list together with big Dutch/Belgian names like Di-Rect, Triggerfinger, Kensington and DeWolff! 

This is a big compliment and I would like to thank everyone who voted for us. It means a lot! 

Hi everyone! 

Welcome to my website! I'm quite new to all of this, but I'm super excited to start sharing things here with all of you. I plan to write something here every month, about my adventures as a musician. I will also leave the comment section open so we can chat together, about music, life and drums. Every now and then I'll also post something from the past, things that I encountered while being on the road. 

To start this thing off, I will take you back to where it all began: a little drummer boy born in a small country called the Netherlands. Music has always been in my life. My dad used to play (and still does actually) in a local marching band, and he would always take me to concerts and parades. The music gene runs in the family, as many of my aunts, uncles and grandparents played an instrument. 

My parents always told me that as soon as I could walk, I was walking with a drum around my neck, ready to take everyone on a parade through the house. That drum never left (I actually still have it!) and a couple of years later, I got my first drumset! From then on I started to try and imitate certain songs on the drumset, not really knowing what I was doing. Soon I started to figure things out, as I would play along with my favorite songs that my dad had put on my mp3 player! 

Those days, walking around with the snaredrum, to sitting behind my kit in the dusty attic, to starting my first band (consisting of my friends playing a tuba, acoustic guitar and saxophone) were where it all started. When I think back I get that exciting feeling again. That ‘new’ feeling, the excitement of figuring it all out, submerging myself into the wonderful world called music.
